I have been reading and listening to versions of how the Ukrainian/Russian War started and find that there are two camps, those that think that Putin sees himself as the new Ivan the Terrible wanting to reestablish the Russian Empire, and others that think that the Russians were goaded into war by the US and Europe. The plan is to oust Putin and establish one of their own on the Czar’s throne.
Among others, respected journalists, Spencer Fernando and Victor Hansen seem to think that Ukraine is just one of the early stepping stones of conquest and we keep having to send money and munitions to thwart Putin’s aggression. If only we had done this in September 1939, they lament, history is repeating itself, what we lose in Ukrainian children now will save our own children later. Others, including Tucker Carlson, Patrick Byrne and RFK Jr think that the Russians are defending themselves from encroaching NATO forces and protecting the Russian speaking peoples of Crimea and the Donbass from Ukrainian attacks.
Personally I don’t think NATO gives a squat for the lost youth of Ukraine and there are pushes for more and more funding to send more and more young lives into the meat grinder. Why so much funding? In his recent book “Danger Close”, Patrick Byrne describes the “highly corrupt” US embassy in Kiev as “in bed with one of our [Ukraine’s] two rival mafias”. According to Byrne the US sent the embassy $5 billion of which $4 billion was skimmed for the mafia, embassy officials and their controllers back in the States. 20% of the money got to the intended NGOs.
I suspect the past $50 billion and the next proposed $60 billion given to Ukraine is not to save us from the Rooskies but for the huge kickbacks that will be used to fund the US 2024 election. The skimmed billions are send back and funnelled through smurfs, in many thousands of small unnoticed donations into the coffers of handpicked candidates.
