If you don’t get out in the sun, live north of 35º latitude, use lots of sunscreen, have dark skin, or are well aged you are likely to be vitamin D deficient. And it’s not just rickets; there are a lot of other illnesses that correlate with vitamin D deficiency, including viral illnesses, multiple sclerosis, tuberculosis, eclampsia, senility, and cancers.

It is important that you and your loved ones take vitamin D supplements and have blood tests to determine your level of circulating vitamin D.
